Preston Bus Limited - Green Business of the Year

- BIBAs 2012 Awards

Rotala Plc's subsidiary Preston Bus Ltd ("PBL") has earned just recognition for its work in reducing its carbon footprint. BIBAs, "Be Inspired in Business Awards", are presented annually by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce in a number of categories and last Friday evening at the prestigious BIBAs Awards ceremony, attended by over 1,200 people, PBL was awarded Green Business of the Year for 2012.

Bob Dunn, Managing Director of PBL, was delighted by the green award:

 "To receive this accolade with so many competing nominations over a large geographical area is truly amazing. PBL has committed huge resources in time and money to Green Technology over the past 18 months and it's great to be acknowledged for our contribution.

The financial investment we have made includes the acquisition of seven hybrid buses already in service, with another four to come later this year, and the purchase of vehicle management and driver aid systems like Eco Manager and Actia. In addition the green initiative at Preston Bus extended to the workshops at our Deepdale Road depot. By implementing Vickers heating and workshop door closure controls, the Preston Bus carbon footprint was reduced by a further 168 tonnes per annum.

The Rotala board has demonstrated its commitment to Preston and PBL, our suppliers have supported the introduction of the new telematics systems and, most importantly, our local management team has successfully implemented these systems. I am truly proud to work for the people of Preston.

This is the start of a journey, one not only to provide a green business, but also one to fulfil our vision to create a truly special business at Preston Bus."
