The Interim Results for J Sainsbury plc for the 28 week period ended 12 October
2002, will be announced on Wednesday 20 November 2002.

The Interim dividend will be paid on 10 January 2003 to shareholders on the
register at the close of business on 29 November 2002. The shares will go
ex-dividend on 27 November 2002.
