Market Purchase of Company's Own Shares

Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at an Annual General Meeting on 23 April 2008 to make market purchases of the Company's own ordinary shares of 5p each, a market purchase of 40,000 ordinary shares in the capital of the Company was made on 24 October 2008 at a price of 87 ½ p per share.

Following this purchase and cancellation there are 162,023,907 ordinary shares in issue.

The issued share capital of the Company following this purchase is 162,023,907 ordinary shares of 5p each. The figure to be used as the denominator for calculations of interests in the Company's voting rights is 162,023,907 as on a poll ordinary shareholders have one vote for every 5p in nominal value.
