The Board of Schroders plc are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr
Michael Dobson as a non-executive Director with effect from 19th April 2001.

Commenting on this appointment, Peter Sedgwick, Chairman of Schroders plc,

Biographical details of Mr Dobson:


                        MICHAEL WILLIAM ROMSEY DOBSON


                         Born 13th May 1952, British


Michael Dobson joined Morgan Grenfell in 1973 as an investment analyst before
becoming an international portfolio manager. His career included five years in
New York before becoming Chief Executive of Morgan Grenfell Asset Management
in 1987. From 1989 - 1993 he was Chief Executive of Morgan Grenfell Group and
from 1993 - 1997 Chief Executive of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell. He was a member
of the Board of Managing Directors of Deutsche Bank AG from 1996 - 2000 with
specific responsibility for Deutsche Asset Management from 1998 - 2000.

He is executive Chairman of Beaumont Capital Management, a member of the
Advisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG and a non-executive Director of various
other companies.

It is confirmed that there are no details to be disclosed concerning Mr Dobson
under paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules.
