Board Appointment

Schroders plc announces that Andrew Beeson has been appointed to the Board as a
non-executive Director, with immediate effect. Mr Beeson, aged 60, will also
become a member of the Audit, Remuneration and Nominations Committees.

Mr Beeson has had a long and distinguished career as a stockbroker and corporate
adviser and was the founder and CEO of the Beeson Gregory Group and subsequently
Chairman of Evolution Group plc following its merger with Beeson Gregory. He is
a non-executive Director of Woolworths Group PLC.

Michael Miles, Chairman, said 'We announced in our Annual Report that we were
intending to appoint a further non-executive Director this year and I am
delighted that Andrew will be joining our Board. His experience and knowledge
will be of real benefit to Schroders and I look forward to him contributing
fully to the Board's deliberations.'

Biographical Details - Andrew Beeson

After over 25 years with Capel-Cure Myers and then ANZ Merchant Bank, in 1989
Andrew Beeson founded Beeson Gregory, an independent corporate adviser and
stockbroker specialising in European growth companies. He was CEO at the time
the business was taken public, capitalised at £200m, in March 2000. In 2002
Beeson Gregory merged with Evolution Group plc, with Mr Beeson becoming Chairman
prior to leaving in 2003.

He founded CISCO in 1992 now known as QCA (Quoted Company Alliance). He was the
first Chairman and was awarded the Coopers & Lybrand 'PLC Achievement Award' for
1995.

He was a founding director of EASDAQ (European Automatic Quotations) and was
Chairman of EASD (European Association of Securities Dealers). EASD Subsequently
merged with APCIMS (Association of Private Client Investment Management) when he
became a Director, resigning in 2003.

Between 2001 and 2004 he was a Director of IP2IPO Group Plc. He is currently a
non-executive Director of Woolworths Group PLC and Nelson Bakewell Holdings
Limited.
