Appointment of Non-executive Director

Schroders plc today announces that Sir Damon Buffini will join the Board with effect from 1 February 2018. He will also be a member of the Nominations Committee.

Michael Dobson, Chairman of Schroders plc, said: "We are delighted to welcome Damon to the Board.  Damon started his career with Schroders in 1988 in what was then Schroder Ventures before it became Permira.  We look forward to benefitting from his broad and highly successful business experience in relation to our overall range of strategic opportunities, particularly in the area of private assets which is one of our growth priorities."

Sir Damon spent over 25 years in private equity joining Schroder Ventures in 1988. He was Managing Partner of Permira from 1997 to 2007 before becoming Chairman. After retiring in 2010, he remained a Senior Adviser until 2015. Under Sir Damon's leadership, funds under management increased from €1.9 billion to over €20 billion as Permira helped to grow numerous successful businesses across Europe.

Sir Damon is a governor of the Wellcome Trust, Chairman of the National Theatre, senior independent director of the PGA Tour and was Chairman of the Government's Patient Capital Review.
