Appointment of a new non-executive director

The board of Securities Trust of Scotland plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Beagles as a non-executive director of the company, with effect from 20 July 2010.  Rachel has also been appointed as Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee.

Rachel is currently a director of Schroder UK Mid and Small Cap Fund plc and also Crown Place VCT plc.

The company confirms that there are no further matters to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph 9.6.11 to 9.6.14 of the Listing Rules.
