The Board of Shanta Gold Limited
"Shanta Gold"  is pleased  to announce  that Walton  Imrie is  to  be
appointed as
Executive Chairman of the Board  of Directors with immediate  effect.
This
follows a request  from the  Board after the  resignation of  Richard
Shead as
Chief Executive Officer.  Walton has been  Non-Executive Chairman  of
Shanta Gold
since admission to AIM.
The Company is focussed on further definition of its
key projects as set out in the announcement of 18 December 2007. This
programme is expected to be largely completed by calendar year end at
which
time the Company  will consider its  strategic options.   Accordingly
the
Board has considered  its Board  composition and  concluded that  its
best
interests will  be served,  at this  stage, with  the appointment  of
Walton as
Executive Chairman.   The  current arrangements  will be  continually
reviewed
to ensure the balance of the Board meets the needs of the Company and
its
shareholders.  A further announcement regarding arrangements for  the
Audit
and Remuneration Committees will be made as soon as practicable.
