Proposed Relocation of St Ives Multimedia Tunbridge Wells
As stated in the Preliminary Announcement of the results for our last financial
year in October 2003, continuing over-capacity in many of our markets has
required us to keep the cost base of all our operations under constant review.
As part of this review, it is now proposed to combine the operations of St Ives
Multimedia currently carried out at Tunbridge Wells and Crayford into a single
unit located at the Crayford facility. Regrettably, a total of some 40 positions
are expected to become redundant as a result of the proposed move and
consultations in relation thereto with the workforces at both sites will
commence very shortly.
It is expected that the consultations will be completed by the beginning of June
2004 and that the factory relocation will take place over the summer.
The customers of both sites will continue to be served from Crayford, as well as
from St Ives Multimedia's Blackburn facility.
The cost of the relocation is estimated to amount to approximately £4 million,
which will be provided in full as an exceptional item in the accounts for the
current financial year.
