Advanced Smartcard Technologies plc is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary Ecebs Limited has signed a
significant new contract with the Royal Bank of Scotland this morning, 14 December 2005. RBS is one of the world's
leading financial services providers and one of the oldest banks in the UK. Following the takeover of National
Westminster Bank in 2000, the Group has continued to grow its business around the globe and, in addition to its strong
UK presence, it has offices in Europe, the USA and Asia. By the end of 2002, it was the second largest bank in Europe
and the fifth largest in the world by market capitalisation.
This follows the signing of a further new contract with blue chip organisation, Intermediate Technology Institute, ITI
Techmedia. The Intermediate Technology Institutes are organisations that develop market-driven intellectual property for
the benefit of the Scottish economy. This contract is an extension to an existing agreement for research into various
aspects of machine-readable security tagging.
Managing Director, David Braddock stated "We are delighted to have been awarded these additional contracts by RBS and
ITI Techmedia. We have long-term business partnerships with both of these organisations and believe that the
continuation of the relationships bode very well for the future. We also believe that these new contracts really show

The new RBS and ITI contracts together are worth in excess of £650k to Advanced Smartcard Technologies plc.
