ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS AND RECOMMENDATION OF DIVIDEND
It is expected that a duly constituted committee of the Board will meet on
Wednesday 27 September 2000 for the purposes of (i) approving a preliminary
announcement of the results of the Company for the year ended 31 July 2000 and
(ii) recommending a final dividend on the ordinary shares for the same period.
Subject to approval at the Annual General Meeting, the 2000 final dividend
will be paid on 13 December 2000 to ordinary shareholders registered at the
close of business on 13 October 2000. The 'ex-dividend' date will be 9
October 2000.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting of Smiths Industries plc for 2000 will be held on
Tuesday 14 November 2000 at the Registered Office of the Company, 765 Finchley
Road NW11 8DS.
