('Solid State', or the 'Group')
Board Changes
Solid State plc (AIM: SOLI), the AIM listed manufacturer of computing, power and communications products, and value added distributor of electronic components, is pleased to announce the following Board changes
As of 1 July 2019, Nigel Rogers will be joining the Board as an independent Non-Executive Director. Nigel replaces John Lavery who steps down from the Board on 31 August 2019 as announced on 4 March 2019. John has 36 years' service with Steatite, the last 17 years with the Group after Steatite was acquired by Solid State in 2002.
Nigel qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 spending eight years with PwC before moving into industry. He managed the flotation of Stadium Group plc as Group Finance Director, before progressing to Group Chief Executive Officer in 2001, where he moved the strategic focus of the diverse industrial group towards building a global electronics manufacturing business. In 2012, he joined 600 Group plc as Group Chief Executive Officer, initially leading the turnaround of the AIM-quoted global machine tool business before leaving in April 2015 to begin a plural career.
Nigel has been Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of Transense Technologies plc, the AIM-quoted provider of sensor systems, since July 2015. In October 2015 he was appointed Chairman of Surgical Innovations Group plc, the AIM-quoted designer, manufacturer, and distributor of medical devices for minimally invasive surgery.
In addition, Tony Frere, Non-Executive Chairman, has announced his intention to retire and step down from the Board at the end of the year. Tony joined the Board in 2010 and was appointed Deputy Chairman in 2012. In April 2014 he was appointed the Group's Non-Executive Chairman. A search for his replacement has commenced and further announcements will be made in due course.
Commenting on the changes to the Board, Gary Marsh, Chief Executive, said:
"We are very pleased to be welcoming Nigel Rogers to Solid State and look forward to his contribution as we further our growth ambitions.
"Equally, it is due to the contributions of long-standing members of our team that we are in the strong position that Solid State finds itself today. That is, in large part, thanks to the dedication of John Lavery and Tony Frere who have been part of the Board during a period when we have made 7 acquisitions and grown the business 4-fold. We wish them the very best for the future."
