Spire Healthcare plans to develop new £60m hospital in Nottingham
Spire Healthcare, a leading private hospital group, is very pleased to announce that planning permission to develop a new hospital in Tollerton, South Nottingham has been granted. This state-of-the-art facility will incorporate the most modern design and configuration concepts, with a capital investment from Spire planned to be around £60m.
Spire Healthcare is one of the UK's largest private hospital providers with 39 hospitals and 13 clinics nationwide, more recently opening a brand new Specialist Care Centre in Bristol and developing a further centre in Essex. Spire offers a wide range of integrated surgical, medical and diagnostic services, and is delighted to be able to develop a facility in the Nottingham area.
Current plans for Spire Nottingham are for a contemporary and leading edge facility, housing the latest in medical technology and equipped for the most complex surgeries. Spire intends that its services will be open to all - including those patients funded by the NHS.
Current plans for the hospital include:
· 56 patient beds;
· a large outpatient area with 20 consulting rooms;
· an oncology suite of six treatment cubicles and sensory garden;
· three laminar flow/laparoscopic theatres and a hybrid theatre/catheter lab;
· a JAG compliant endoscopy suite;
· a six bedded Critical Care Unit;
· a fixed MRI and CT facility;
· an enhanced physiotherapy facility with access to outside exercise area.
This prime site by the airport in Tollerton will place Spire in an ideal position to serve Nottingham and the wider East Midlands market. It is initially anticipated there will be employment benefits to the local area, with around 250 jobs created, as well as wider economic benefits to the local area.
Work is due to begin later this year, with completion anticipated in late 2016 / early 2017.
Neil McCullough, Spire's Group Development Director, said:
"A new hospital development in Nottingham would give Spire the opportunity to make a significant addition to its network and reflects our vision to be recognised as a world class healthcare business.
"Nottingham is a successful and vibrant city and we are delighted to be joining the local health community with our plans for a state-of-the-art hospital befitting of the city's status.
"Spire has had extensive engagement with medical professionals in the area and the consistent feedback has been in support of the project and, more importantly, the chance to work with Spire Healthcare. We believe that this new hospital will be a significant addition to the medical care offering in the region."
