        SPIRENT PLC ANNOUNCES THE LISTING OF ITS SHARES
               ON THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE

Spirent plc, the international network technology company, today
announced the listing of its shares on the New York Stock
Exchange. The shares, in the form of American Depositary Receipts
(ADRs), will trade under the ticker symbol 'SPM', with one ADR
representing four Spirent ordinary shares.  The Bank of New York
will act as the Depositary Bank for Spirent's ADR program. No new
Spirent shares have been issued in connection with the listing.

The principal listing for Spirent plc shares is on the London
Stock Exchange.

Spirent plc said:

financial performance under both UK and US GAAP will be available
on the Spirent plc website ( www.spirent.com/investors) from
17:00 London time (12.00 EST) on 10 July 2001 for two months.
