        SPIRENT SELECTED BY VERIZON FOR NETWORK-WIDE FAULT MANAGEMENT


Spirent plc, the international network technology company, today announced
that Verizon Advanced Data Inc. (VADI), a subsidiary of Verizon
Communications (NYSE:VZ), has selected Spirent Communications' CenterOp
SentryTM fault management platform to support service management across
VADI's advanced data network. Spirent already provides Verizon Advanced Data
with service assurance solutions for DSL and other data services.

Nicholas Brookes, Chief Executive of Spirent, said:

'This is a significant and strategically important win for our Communications
group and highlights Spirent's position as a key player in what is currently
a difficult trading environment for telecommunications companies. The Verizon
contract is the first major deployment for our Sentry system, validating the
software platform and opening the door to further sales of this and other
elements of our integrated CenterOp software suite. We believe that Sentry
could become the 'de facto' standard in Service Provider fault management.'

Spirent Communications' Sentry fault management operations support system
enables technicians at a variety of reporting levels to economically address
service concerns in real-time, providing increased customer responsiveness,
reduced mean time to repair, and enhanced overall customer service.
