AIS Identifier order for West Africa Vessel Monitoring System Project
SRT is pleased to announce that it has received an order for 400 AIS Identifier VMS Transceiver kits which will be deployed in West Africa for the tracking and identification of small fishing vessels.
The Identifier VMS Transceiver kits will be deployed by authorities as part of a long term programme to track and identify small and medium size fishing boats and assist with the prevention of illegal and unregulated fishing.
The Identifier VMS Transceivers are supplied as complete, ready to install kits, and are enabled with SAT-Trak satellite AIS (S-AIS) detection optimisation technology which enables reliable tracking by AIS satellites when beyond coastal network range. This, and other functionality, was trialled and proven by the relevant authorities over an extended period during 2015 and 2016.
Simon Tucker, CEO of SRT, said: "AIS provides a reliable and cost effective system for the monitoring of fishing boats. For some time SRT has been the global leader in AIS technology development and today in the provision of VMS products and systems. The Identifier was trialled over an extended period in a very challenging environment and again, proved itself as the best option for AIS based VMS fishing vessel monitoring. We are delighted to receive this order into a market that we have been following and advising for some years and look forward to working with our partners and authorities to increase deployments significantly in the future."
