SCOTTISH MEDIA GROUP COMPLETES ITS ALLIANCE
WITH HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN FOOTBALL CLUB

Following receipt of OFT clearance in relation to the proposed transaction
Scottish Media Group plc announces today, Monday 11 October 1999, that it has
completed its subscription for 19.9% of the ordinary share capital of Heart of
Midlothian plc and £4.5 million of convertible loan stock, for an aggregate
cash consideration of £8 million.
