Synchronica Wins Major Group-wide Agreement with Tier-1 Mobile Operator Group
Synchronica's largest agreement to date makes mobile email available to all subsidiaries of the group covering more than 100 million subscribers
Synchronica plc (AIM: SYNC), the mobile email and synchronisation specialist, is pleased to announce a group-wide agreement with a major mobile operator group (the "Group") providing telecommunication services in Europe and to the rapidly growing emerging markets of Eurasia. The Agreement represents Synchronica's largest contract by number of addressable subscribers as it will make Synchronica's Mobile Gateway available to all subsidiaries of the Group, which has more than 100 million subscribers worldwide.
Synchronica will receive a one-time activation fee of €1 per user, plus an annual subscription fee of up to €2.64 per user plus a yearly support fee of €0.96 per user. Synchronica will also receive fees for professional services relating to integration and customisation.
Synchronica expects the highest take up rate from the Group's operations in emerging markets of Eastern Europe, the CIS and South East Asia. This is primarily due to the low penetration levels of personal computers in these regions, giving the mobile phone a chance of becoming the primary device for sending and receiving emails.
A report published in November 2008 by Pyramid Research predicts that global mobile subscribers will grow from 4.0 billion this year to 5.85 billion in 2013, with emerging markets such as Eastern Europe, the CIS and South East Asia providing 90 percent of that growth. SFN's World Digital Media Trends 2008 has also reported that the CAGR in Eastern Europe by 2010 will be more than three times that in Western Europe, at 9.4 percent and 3 percent, respectively.
Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica plc, said: "We are delighted to have signed a multi-territory deal with a top 10 mobile operator group. This agreement shows that Synchronica plays in the top league of mobile email infrastructure providers worldwide and that we are able to convert our technical leadership into market share. Mobile Gateway is ideally suited to deliver push email to business users and consumers in particular in the rapidly growing emerging markets of Asia, CIS, Africa, Middle-East and Latin America and we are pleased to see this confirmed by a major operator group."
