Sheffield project completed

Quadnetics Group PLC 26 February 2003 News release 26 February 2003 Launch of Sheffield CCTV system Quadnetics Group, a leader in the development, design, integration and control of advanced CCTV and networked video systems, has completed the installation of a CCTV system and control room in Sheffield, under a contract worth £2.6 million to the Group during the year ended 30 November 2002. The system is to be officially launched today at Sheffield Town Hall. Designed in conjunction with IBM, the Sheffield Wide Image Switching System (SWISS) is largest CCTV operation controlled from a single centre and is believed to be the most technically advanced in Europe. The project was commissioned as a result of £2.8 million Home Office grant, secured by the city's Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, Sheffield First for Safety, and through partnerships with South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, Meadowhall and the University of Sheffield, bringing the total cost of the project to £3.35 million. Russ Singleton, Chief Executive of Quadnetics Group plc, said: 'SWISS combines the installation, management skills and technical expertise of our subsidiaries, Quadrant Video Systems and Synectics Systems, with the storage systems of IBM.
