TANFIELD GROUP PLC
ORDER BOOK UPDATE

Tanfield Group plc, the AIM listed technical and assembly solutions business, is
pleased to announce that it has received a significant new order from an
existing customer. The order is in respect of goods for the defence sector with
a value of £1.63 million. Production will commence in June 2004 and continue
until February 2005. The customer has been working with Tanfield since the
latter part of 2003 and has already taken delivery of products with a value of
around £0.5 million. The latest order is a result, the Directors believe, of
Tanfield's commitment to offering turnkey assembly and technical solutions.
