                                    Placing

Tanfield Group PLC (the 'Company') announces that it has conditionally placed
9,100,000 new ordinary shares in the Company of 1p each at a placing price of
20p per share raising £1,820,000. It is expected that these shares will be
admitted to trading on AIM on 21 December 2005.

The Placing has been effected to satisfy institutional demand for the Company's
shares and to ensure the Company has sufficient working capital to allow it to
explore new business opportunities.
