Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust PLC Announcement
Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust PLC ("TEMIT") or ("the Company")
announces that at its Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 28th September
2006, all of the resolutions set out in the Notice of the Meeting were passed by
the requisite majority.
It is also announced that with effect from the close of the Annual General
Meeting today, Sam L Ginn has resigned as a Director of the Company.
In addition, Sir Peter Burt has been appointed as a member of the Nomination and
Remuneration Committee, with immediate effect.
It is further announced that the Board have elected Neil Collins as a Director
of the Company with effect from today. The Board have also appointed Neil
Collins as a member of the Audit Committee, with immediate effect. Neil
Collins's biography is attached.
The Company discloses this and the following information pursuant to Listing
Rules 9.6.7 R, 9.6.11 R and 9.6.13 R made by the UK Listing Authority. This
disclosure is based upon information provided by such Director and has not been
independently verified by the Company. Other than his directorship of the
Company, Mr Collins does not currently hold and has not held in the previous 5
years any other directorships in any other publicly quoted company.
Mr Collins has no details to disclose pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13 R (2) to
Listing Rule 9.6.13 R (6).
Mr Collins has an interest in 7000 Ordinary Shares of the Company to disclose
pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.7 R.

Biography of Neil Collins
Neil Adam Collins, who is 59, has spent most of his career in financial
journalism and was City Editor of The Daily Telegraph for nearly 20 years until
he retired from the position in 2005. In February 2006 he was awarded the
Freedom Award by the Institute of Economic Affairs. He was voted Financial
Journalist of the Year in 2002. Prior to that he had been City Editor of the
London Evening Standard and The Sunday Times. He is currently a columnist on the
London Evening Standard, writing a weekly column, plus occasional contributions
elsewhere. Educated at Uppingham School, he graduated from Selwyn College,
Cambridge in 1968 with an Honours degree in Mechanical Sciences, and spent two
years as a graduate trainee with Hoare & Co, Stockbrokers. From 1999 to 2003 he
served as a Governor on the Board of St Andrew's School, Eastbourne.
