Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust PLC Announcement

Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust PLC ("the Company") announces that with effect from 26th June 2008 Peter Godsoe has retired as a Director of the Company. 

The Company further announces that, with effect from 26th June 2008, the Board has elected Hamish Buchan as a Non-Executive Director of the Company, with additional responsibility as a Member of the Audit Committee of the Company. Mr Buchan is an independent Director and his biography is set out below.  

The Company discloses this and the following information pursuant to Listing Rules 9.6.11 R and 9.6.13 R made by the UK Listing Authority. These disclosures are based upon information provided by Mr Buchan and have not been independently verified by the Company. 

Mr Buchan is currently a director of JPMorgan American Investment Trust PLC, Aberforth Smaller Companies Trust plc, Personal Assets Trust plc, Standard Life European Private Equity Trust plc, The Scottish Investment Trust plc and Scottish Community Foundation. In the previous 5 years, Hamish Buchan also held directorships of Aberforth Split Level Trust plc, Collective Assets plc and Shires Income plc. 

Hamish Buchan has no details to disclose pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13 R (2) to Listing Rule 9.6.13 R (6).

Biography of Hamish Buchan

Hamish Buchan (63) is Chairman of JPMorgan American Investment Trust PLC. He is also a Director of Aberforth Smaller Companies Trust plc, Personal Assets Trust plc, Standard Life European Private Equity Trust plc, The Scottish Investment Trust plc and Scottish Community Foundation. Mr Buchan has been involved in the investment trust sector for forty years, mainly as an investment trust analyst and is currently a Director and immediate past Chairman of the Association of Investment Companies.

The Company further announces that with effect from 26th June 2008, the Board has elected Neil Collins as a Member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee of the Company.
