TERTIARY MINERALS PLC
TERTIARY ADDS TO ITS SWEDISH PORTFOLIO WITH ZINC PROJECT
IN HISTORIC BERGSLAGEN MINING DISTRICT
Application Covers 9 Sq Kms - First New Prospect Since Aim Listing
Previous Assays Showed Up To 18.8p.c Zinc
Drilling Programme Planned For 'High Priority' Windfall Project
Tertiary Minerals plc, which is focusing its efforts on base
and precious metals exploration in Sweden, has made the first
addition to its portfolio since it listed on London's
Alternative Investment Market (Aim) in September, 1999.
The company, through its wholly owned subsidiary Tertiary Gold
Ltd, has applied for an exploration permit covering a 9 sq. km
area surrounding old mine workings at Djuragruven in the north
east part of the historic Bergslagen mining district of south-
central Sweden.
Surface sampling at Djuragruven in the 1980s by SGAB, a former
state owned prospecting company, returned assays up to
18.8p.c. zinc. The dimensions of the mineralisation are not
clear, however, because of the low amount of surface exposure
in the area.
Djuragruven is located some 120km west of Tertiary's Windfall
zinc-silver project where the company's previous drilling has
defined two zones of open-ended, zinc-silver rich
mineralisation at Vindfall and Sortarnan over 400m and 100m
respectively. Drill intersections up to 7.7m at 10.9p.c.
zinc and 91g/t silver were obtained at shallow depths in the
company's latest drilling programme.
Tertiary says its objective is to evaluate new projects such
as Djuragruven quickly, alongside exploration of its core
portfolio - at present six projects in Sweden.
Windfall remains a high priority project for the company. A
geophysical test programme will begin there on January 31,
2000, over the known mineralisation to see if it has a clearly
identifiable geophysical response which would allow this
exploration technique to be used to 'map out' any potential
extensions to the know mineralisation and to identify
additional drilling targets. A new drilling programme is
planned to start at Windfall in early spring this year.
