Tesco plc - Repurchase programme

Tesco plc announces that the Company has entered into irrevocable and
non-discretionary arrangements with its brokers, JP Morgan Cazenove Limited and
Shore Capital Stockbrokers Limited to repurchase on its behalf and within
certain pre-set parameters, ordinary shares in the Company for cancellation
during the period commencing 29 May 2007 and ending on 18 June 2007. This
arrangement is in accordance with Chapter 12 of the Listing Rules and the
Company's general authority to repurchase shares.
