             Appointment of Director and Joint Company Secretary

Thor Mining PLC ('Thor' or the 'Company') the mineral exploration and
development company focussed on advancing molybdenum and tungsten projects in
the Northern Territory of Australia. announces the appointment of Gregory Durack
as a director of the Company and Chris Bath as joint company secretary, with
effect from 18 July 2005.

Gregory Michael Durack, aged 45

Gregory Durack is a Member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy
and is a metallurgist with over 24 years experience in Australia, Papua New
Guinea and Greece, in both operational and development management roles. He
previously held senior positions with Normandy Mining Limited and Newmont Mining
Corporation Australia, and is currently Managing Director of Batavia Mining
Limited.

The following are the names of all the companies and partnerships of which
Gregory Durack has been a director or partner at any time in the previous five
years.

Chris Bath

The Company further announces that Chris Bath has been appointed joint company
secretary with responsibility for the Company's secretarial affairs emanating
from Australia.

Chris Bath is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Australian Institute of
Company Directors. He worked in audit and advisory services with Duesbury and
KPMG, specialising in the mining and mineral exploration and manufacturing
industries and has held several senior financial positions in the commercial
sector where, inter alia he has been responsible for financial reporting for ASX
listed companies and compliance with the Corporations Act and Australian Stock
Exchange Listing Rules. Chris Bath is currently the Chief Financial Officer and
Company Secretary of Tennant Creek Gold Limited and Finance Director and Company
Secretary of Batavia Mining Limited.
