                     Appointment of Non-Executive Director


The Board of Travis Perkins plc is pleased to announce the appointment of
Stephen Carter as a non-executive director on 24th April 2006. Mr Carter, age
42, who has a law degree, is the chief executive of Ofcom, the communications
industry regulator. From 2000 to 2002, he was Managing Director and Chief
Operating Officer, UK and Ireland, for NTL, and between 1992 and 2000 he held a
number of senior posts in JWT UK Group, becoming Chief Executive Officer, and a
director of JWT Worldwide, from 1997.  He was previously a non-executive
director of Trucost plc.



Tim Stevenson, chairman of Travis Perkins, commented:



'It gives me great pleasure to welcome Stephen Carter to our board.  His current
and previous executive roles have given him exposure to a number of business
sectors, and, at this point in Travis Perkins' development, we expect to benefit
in particular from his experience of directing change in large organisations.'



Mr Carter presently holds no shares in the company, and there is no further
information required to be disclosed under 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules.
