                        TRAVIS PERKINS PLC (THE COMPANY)


Travis Perkins plc ('the Company') was informed today that Mourant & Co.
Trustees Limited, as the trustee of the Travis Perkins ESOP Trust ('the Trust'),
purchased yesterday, at a price of 1600p per share, a total of 500,000 ordinary
shares of 10 pence each in the capital of the Company (representing 0.41% of the
issued ordinary shares), all of which are intended to be used for the Company's
employee share plans.  As a result of this purchase of shares, the number of
ordinary shares in the capital of the Company held in the Trust is 500,000
(representing 0.41% of the issued ordinary shares of the Company).





The following directors, together with all employees, are potential
beneficiaries of the Trust and are therefore deemed to be interested in the
purchase of shares described above although the directors were not directly
connected with the purchase:-
