The Board of Travis Perkins (the 'Company') has today received notification from
Standard Life Investments that, following the sale of 438,717 shares on 
5 November 2002, it is interested in 4,174,199 ordinary shares, representing 
3.716 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital.

The shares are registered in the name of Stanlife Nominees Limited.
