TRISTEL PLC
Grant of Patents
Tristel plc ('Tristel'), the AIM listed provider of infection and contamination
control products, announces that it has been granted patents from the UK Patent
Office for the Tristel Wipes Traceability System and the Tristel Dual Foam
Sterilant.
The Tristel Wipes Traceability System is used in the decontamination of heat
sensitive medical instruments. The system is a practical and highly effective
way to decontaminate heat sensitive, non-lumened instruments if endoscope
washer-disinfectors, sinks or water supplies are not available. Importantly, the
Tristel Wipes Traceability System enables users to conform to the Chief Medical
Officer's Directive in 'Winning Ways' (Working together to reduce Hospital
Acquired Infection), December 2003, which states that staff will ensure that
there is an audit trail for each recycled item.
The Tristel Dual Foam Sterilant is used for the high-level disinfection of
surfaces in high risk areas of hospitals. The Tristel Dual Foam Sterilant
delivers Tristel's proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry directly to surfaces.
Chlorine dioxide is highly effective in destroying all types of bacteria
(including bacterial spores, tuberculosis and MRSA), fungi and viruses and is
one of a small group of sporicidal agents that is safe and easy to use.
Tristel's core product range of instrument disinfectants has become the market
leader in the UK Acute & Private Hospital sector. They are used to decontaminate
heat sensitive endoscopic and ultrasound instruments in over 375 hospitals,
representing some 60 per cent of all UK NHS Acute & Private Hospitals.
