More NHS Trusts move to Tristel for surfaces product range
Tristel plc, the manufacturer of infection control, contamination control and hygiene products, announces
that the number of NHS Trusts adopting Tristel products for surface cleaning and disinfection continues to grow. New case studies on the Tristel website (www.tristel.com/surfaces.html) describe the positive experiences that led to recent conversions to Tristel Fuse at Homerton University Hospital (London, UK) and Tristel Fuse and Tristel Jet at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust (London, UK). The University College London study is to be presented as a scientific poster at the Infection Prevention Society conference in Bournemouth later this year.
In both cases, the proven effectiveness of the chlorine dioxide-based Tristel for Surfaces range, coupled with ease of use and acceptance by the end users, were major factors. Tristel products are seen as having many advantages compared with chlorine tablets, which are the widely used alternative.
Tristel Fuse is packaged in convenient, easy to use, 'mixable sachets' that contain base and activator solutions. Fuse is first activated within the sachet and then simply added to five litres of water to create the correct concentration for cleaning and disinfection of floors, walls and other hard surfaces. Immediately ready for use, Fuse is simpler and quicker than chlorine tablets which require the cleaner to choose how many to use, to count them out and then wait for them to dissolve.
Tristel Jet adds a non-aerosol gel-based trigger spray to the range. It permits accurate directional application and eliminates any health and safety concerns associated with aerosols. A thickened formulation allows it to cling effectively to hard surfaces, for wiping.
Tristel CEO Paul Swinney said: "Our experience is that for effective cleaning and disinfection in the healthcare environment it is essential to have products that are not only effective but that are easy and pleasant for operators to use. Staff don't have the time to spend on counting tablets or measuring out liquids to get the correct concentrations, and no-one wants to work with unpleasant and smelly chemicals. Ease of use and safety are why the Tristel for Surfaces range is proving so popular and successful."
