Sarantel begins production shipments to Thales
Sarantel (AIM: SLG), a manufacturer of revolutionary antennas for mobile and wireless devices, has begun shipments of its innovative GeoHelix GPS antenna to Thales Communications Inc. ('Thales'). The GeoHelix GPS antenna will be retrofitted into military radios used widely by US and NATO forces.
Thales will incorporate the GeoHelix GPS antenna into a remote control unit which is designed to be fitted into the most widely fielded handheld multiband tactical radio in the world, the AN/PRC 148. The unit is designed as a body-mounted device that works under extreme conditions and enables the operator to control the radio without removing it from his or her back or waist.
As of late 2007, 100,000 AN/PRC-148 radios were in service, with nearly a third of these being used by the US Army. Sarantel's technology was selected because of its small size, rugged design and high performance in body-worn applications.
Sarantel is increasingly successful in selling its technology to higher-value military clients, whose primary concerns are robust design and exceptional accuracy, both of which are key features of the GeoHelix GPS antenna.

About Sarantel
Sarantel is a leader in the design of high-performance miniature antennas for portable wireless applications. Sarantel's revolutionary ceramic filtering antennas offer dramatically improved performance over existing antenna designs, resulting in a clearer signal, better range and a 90 per cent reduction in the amount of signal radiation absorbed by the body. Because of their smaller size and higher capabilities, Sarantel's antennas enable manufacturers to create innovative wireless products for the GPS, WiMax, Satellite Radio and Satellite phone markets.
