Unilever PLC 17 May 2000 NEW ADVISORY DIRECTOR APPOINTED AT UNILEVER The Lord Simon of Highbury CBE has been appointed an advisory director of Unilever, with immediate effect. He will serve as a member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committees of the Board. After studying modern languages, Lord Simon completed his MBA at Insead, Fontainebleau, in 1966. After a career with BP plc, where he served as Group Chief Executive and Chairman, Lord Simon was a UK Government minister between 1997 and 1999. He then became an adviser to the UK Prime Minister and to European Commission President Prodi. Lord Simon is Vice President of the European Round Table, a non-executive director of the Bank of England, Rio Tinto and Grand Metropolitan, and a member of the Advisory Boards of Deutsche Bank and Allianz.
