Future of European Bakery Business Under Review

               European Bakery Business


Unilever stated on 22 February 2000, as part of its year-end
results announcement, that the future of its European Bakery
Business is under review.  It is to be restructured to improve
performance or it will be divested by the end of the year.

Since then Unilever has received several indications of
interest in the Bakery business from third parties.  These
are being included in the review of the strategic options for
the business.

Further announcements will be made as necessary.
