Appointment of a New Director

Value and Income Trust PLC ('the Company') is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Smith as an independent Non-Executive Director with effect from today, 10 July 2009.

Mr Smith retired from the legal firm Shepherd & Wedderburn in 2008 where he was a partner for 34 years, specialising in commercial property. With commercial property representing approximately one-third of the Company's total assets the Board considers that Mr Smith's experience will add further to the Board's collective expertise.

Mr Smith has no current holding in the Ordinary shares of the Company.

There are no disclosures required under Section 9.6.13R (1) to (6) of the FSA's UKLA Listing Rules.
