Weir Group announces appointment of Group Finance Director

The Weir Group PLC announces the appointment of Keith Cochrane (41) to the
position of group finance director. Keith will join at the beginning of July
2006 when he will take over from Chris Rickard.

Currently group director of finance of Scottish Power plc, he was previously
finance director and then chief executive of Stagecoach Group plc. He qualified
as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen.

Weir Group chairman, Sir Robert Smith, said 'Keith Cochrane comes to Weir with
the extensive experience required as we continue with our programme to achieve
world class standards across the Group and grow shareholder value.'

'Chris Rickard has played a significant role in the successful development of
the Group and we wish him well in his future endeavours.'

There is no information to be disclosed under the requirements of the Listing
Rule 9.6.13 in relation to this appointment.
