Alan Ferguson appointed as a non-executive director of The Weir Group PLC

The Weir Group announces the appointment of Alan Ferguson to the Board as a non-
executive  director, with effect from today. He will take over from Stephen King
as  chairman of the audit  committee in May 2012, when  Mr King retires from the
Board.

Mr  Ferguson was until recently Chief Financial  Officer of Lonmin Plc, the FTSE
100 producer of platinum and metals. He currently chairs the audit committees of
Johnson  Matthey Plc,  the FTSE  100 precious metals  and chemicals  company and
Croda  Plc, the FTSE 250 chemicals  company. He is a  member of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

There  are no further  matters to be  disclosed relating to  Alan Ferguson under
Section 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules.
