Westminster Group Plc:
Ferry Project and Airport Traffic Update
Westminster Group Plc ('Westminster' or the 'Company'), the AIM listed supplier of managed services and technology based security solutions to governments and government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGO's) and blue chip commercial organisations worldwide, is pleased to provide a further update on its new Ferry Project and airport security operations in West Africa.
Following on from the Company's announcement on 28 October 2015, the Company can now report that the vessel is on the slipway and works to replace the shaft etc. have commenced. Further updates regarding ticketing and operations will be announced in due course as works progresses to completion.
Commenting on the situation Peter Fowler, Chief Executive of Westminster Group, said:
"I am pleased that these repairs are now finally underway and that the project is moving forward. We remain confident of the operation's potential to provide a safe and secure service on this key route and its introduction will considerably upgrade the country's travel infrastructure.
"I am further pleased to report that with the end of the Ebola crisis in the country we are looking forward to a continued recovery in airline passenger numbers, which are already showing a positive trend. Passenger numbers for the period since the start of July 2015 to date are at approximately 68% of the comparative periods in 2012 and 2013 (pre Ebola) and we have seen this further increase in the last few weeks. We are encouraged by existing airlines increasing services and new airlines looking to commence services. This bodes well for both our existing airport operations which continue to increase contribution as well as our new ferry service.
"On a broader front the recent tragic events in Egypt and France highlight the need for more effective security solutions such as Westminster provides worldwide and, in that respect, improved airport security is now a key agenda item for many governments. A number of our Managed Services airport contract discussions continue to progress, with certain discussions aided by some of our strategic investors, particularly those who participated in the most recent investment round."
