Whitbread - re directorate

Whitbread Holdings PLC today announced that Alan Perelman
has retired as a director of the company with effect from
March 20, 2001.  Mr Perelman was finance director from
1990 until March 3, 2001.

Sir John Banham, Chairman, said:  'On behalf of my
colleagues, I should like to thank Alan for his
significant contribution to Whitbread over more than a
decade and wish him well in the future.'
