Response to press speculation

Speculation in the weekend press has been noted regarding possible issue of
equity. Whitbread confirms that it has no current intention of raising
funds through the issue of equity.
As stated during Whitbread's annual results presentation in April, the
Company will begin to look at diversifying the sources and tenure of its
debt during 2010-11, through issuing debt in the capital markets including
debt private placement.
