Wincanton becomes sole provider for logistics services for Somerfield
Wincanton plc ('Wincanton'), the leading European supply chain solutions
provider is pleased to announce that it has been chosen as the preferred
supplier for a contract worth £900m over the next five years for high street
supermarket Somerfield.
In addition to the nine sites that Wincanton currently manages for them,
Somerfield has confirmed its intention, under the new contract, to transfer the
transport operation at Lea Green and the warehouse operations at Cardinal and
Huntingdon to Wincanton from their existing third party supplier. As a result,
around 1500 employees will transfer to Wincanton under the Transfer of
Undertakings regulations (TUPE).
