Windar Photonics announcing new orders for the Canadian and Korean markets
Windar Photonics plc (AIM:WPHO), the technology group that has developed a cost efficient and innovative LIDAR wind sensor for use on electricity generating wind turbines, is pleased to announce orders of 7 WindEYE™ LiDAR units. The orders includes a repeat order from a Canadian IPP customer and an order for our first test project in Korea both orders for immediate delivery.
The Canadian customer owns more than 600MW of wind turbine power generation capacity in North America and this new order is a repeat order following our previously delivery of 5 WindEye™ LiDAR systems earlier this year. The LiDAR units are going to be installed on a second wind park site owned by the customer for an extensive test of the WindEye™ LiDAR systems.
The order from Korea represents the first installation of the WindEye™ LiDAR systems in Korea and is going to be installed for initial testing an integration on NM82 wind turbines. This order is facilitated through a local Korean wind turbine service company and given a successful execution of this first order, we plan to appoint the Korean service company as an official distributor for the Korean market following our strategy to extend our distribution network especially in markets where Windar do not have any local representation.
Jørgen Korsgaard Jensen, Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Company, commented:
"I am always very pleased to see repeat orders from existing customers, and despite the fact we are now only entering an extended test program with our Canadian customer, we have high expectations to conclude these tests successfully. Following our previous announcements Windar is currently planning to build a distribution network in markets where we have no local representations, and I am very pleased to see our new potential distributor in Korea already now bringing in an order for a test in Korea on a well- known NM82 WindEye™ and WindTimizer™ turbine integration.
