WITAN INVESTMENT TRUST PLC
Review of performance benchmark
Witan has reviewed the performance benchmark which has been in place since 2007 and announces the following changes, taking effect from 2017.
UK 30% (previously 40%)
North America 25% (previously 20%)
Asia Pacific (including Japan) 20% (previously 20%)
Europe ex-UK 20% (previously 20%)
Emerging Markets 5% (new addition)
Witan's benchmark, which is used as a reference point for comparing performance, has evolved over time to reflect changes in the investment universe from which most of the portfolio holdings are chosen.
Witan's portfolio is actively managed and is not designed to track any index or combination of market indices. Our managers select stocks on the basis of their potential to deliver above-average returns and to outperform market indices and this will continue to be the case. Although our investment approach remains unchanged, we believe the new benchmark is more comprehensive and we believe that shareholders will benefit from exposure to this more diverse investment universe.
