John Wood Group PLC ('Wood Group')
Chairman's AGM Statement
At today's Annual General Meeting, Sir Ian Wood, Chairman and Chief Executive of
Wood Group, the international energy services provider, commented:
'2003 saw good revenue growth, but only marginal EBITA growth, mainly reflecting
difficult conditions in the US power market. During the year, we continued to
enhance our market leadership and differentiation in our chosen growth markets.
'In 2004, Well Support is performing strongly, but, as previously indicated, our
overall performance will be held back by the impact of continuing delays in the
award of deepwater engineering projects and the challenges of the difficult US
Power market. In Gas Turbine Services, action is under way to reduce costs,
including rationalisation of facilities and service lines - this will result in
an exceptional charge in 2004, but will benefit future performance. Looking
ahead to 2005, we continue to see encouraging signs and are well positioned to
exploit key growth segments in both the Oil & Gas and Power industries.'
