    WOOD GROUP ENGINEERING (NORTH SEA) AWARDED MAJOR PETROCHEMICAL CONTRACT

Wood Group Engineering (North Sea) Ltd, part of John Wood Group PLC ('Wood
Group'), has been appointed by ExxonMobil to provide maintenance, support and
construction services to its onshore asset, the Mossmorran Fife Ethylene Plant
plant. The facility processes North Sea ethane into ethylene which is widely
used in the manufacture of polyethylene products.

The multi million pound contract, over five years, will initially provide
employment for around 40 - 50 Wood Group personnel at ExxonMobil's site at
Mossmorran.

Sea). 'ExxonMobil's decision to appoint us is a reflection of our safety record,
our people management skills and our track record in positive contribution to
our customer operations. We already provide similar services in the onshore
terminal market for other customers at St Fergus, Mossmorran, Nigg, Flotta and
Sullom Voe.'

Wood Group will be supported by Cape as the scaffolding and insulation
sub-contractor.
