Grant of Planning Permission

Workspace Group PLC 9 January 2002 WORKSPACE AND COUNTRYSIDE PROPERTIES PLANNING PERMISSION GRANTED FOR RESIDENTIAL SCHEME AT THREE MILLS FILM STUDIOS Workspace Group PLC ('Workspace'), the leading provider of flexible business accommodation to small and medium sized enterprises ('SMEs') in London and the South East has today announced that, subject to a Section 106 agreement, outline planning permission has been granted for its residential development scheme on land it owns adjacent to its Three Mills Film Studios site in Bow, East London. Work on site is scheduled to begin in May. The scheme is being developed in a joint venture with Copthorn Homes Limited, a subsidiary of housebuilder Countryside Properties PLC. The proposed development will comprise a mix of 47 live/work units and apartments on a 0.8-acre site. The scheme will enhance the regeneration of the Three Mills Film Studios Scheme, a 20-acre site with 600,000 sq. ft of lettable commercial space in over 120 units. The site is a further example of Workspace's ability to add value through the active management of its property portfolio. Harry Platt, Chief Executive of Workspace said, ' This is another example of how the Workspace approach to property adds value. We have worked hard to transform the Three Mills Studios site into a thriving working community. We have regenerated a disused gin distillery to create significant local employment. ' There is an increasing trend amongst local planners who are keen to encourage brownfield, mixed-use, sustainable developments with a blend of residential and commercial uses. This is exactly the model that we are creating at Three Mills. Graham Cherry, Chief Executive of Countryside Properties PLC said, ' Countryside is firmly committed to developing mixed use urban re-generation projects such as this one at Workspace's Three Mills Film Studios. We have a strong track record of developing successful and well-regarded schemes. I am sure that our relationship with Workspace will yield further opportunities for co-operation in the future.'
