PLANNING PERMISSION SECURED for mixed USE scheme development in SW18
Workspace Group PLC ("Workspace"), London's leading provider of space to new and growing companies, is pleased to announce that it has secured further planning permission for the second phase of its mixed use development in Wandsworth.
The site is adjacent to the Filaments, Workspace's current joint development with Mount Anvil, the specialist London residential developer, on Buckhold Road, SW18.
The new scheme, a 20 storey tower, comprises 77 apartments, 3,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant use and 15,000 sq ft of new business space. This second phase will bring Workspace's overall Business Centre at this location to 70,000 sq ft, capable of housing over 120 businesses. Workspace will open the first phase of the Business Centre in December 2014.
The repositioning of the site will contribute to the transformation of this vibrant new area of Wandsworth which is already underway with the Ram Brewery, Workspace and Mount Anvil's Filament developments.
The new Business Centre will become fully integrated into the local community opening new pedestrian routes through to the High Street, offering its customers great views over St Georges Park.
Commenting on the announcement, Jamie Hopkins, Chief Executive Officer said:
"We are delighted to announce another planning approval for the second phase of our mixed use scheme in Wandsworth. This development will not only benefit fast growing businesses, helping to mitigate the high demand for office space, but also the wider community.
"The mobility of the workforce is changing as digital growth increases workers' ability to work remotely but workers are more drawn to areas with easily accessible shopping, restaurants and bars, cinemas and gyms. This development is at the centre of Wandsworth near the shopping centre and park, with excellent access to central London. This new state-of-the-art development will create a business centre, providing customers with more than just space, with well designed, tailored facilities and flexible leases. Workspace creates environments designed to suit the needs of its customers, to foster collaboration and enable both businesses and communities to work and grow together.
"The redevelopment will also provide a significant boost to both the capital value and rental income of the site and demonstrates our ability to add significant value through asset management."
