Dr Tokuya Ohta Joins as Director of Xaar Japan

                 KEY APPOINTMENT IN JAPAN


Xaar plc ('Xaar'), the ink jet printing technology group based
in Cambridge, England, announces that Dr Tokuya Ohta has
joined the company as Director -  Xaar Japan.

Dr Ohta was previously Advisory Director and Deputy Chief
Executive of Bubble Jet Operations at Canon Inc where he
worked in many executive capacities for over 30 years.

Dr Ohta was responsible for the original research and
development which lead to the introduction of the very
successful Canon Bubble-jet range of ink jet  printers.   
Dr Ohta is named on more than 250 ink jet technology patents.

On his decision to join Xaar Dr Ohta said :

'The Xaar technology has the potential to be the leading ink
jet printing technology.  I am excited about the prospect of
working with the Xaar development team, and also with current
and prospective licensees in Japan.'
