Notification of Major Interests in Shares

The Company received notification from Merrill Lynch Investment Managers Group
Limited, informing it that following a purchase of 400,000 shares, by the Royal
Bank of Scotland Plc as Trustee of the Merrill Lynch UK Value Fund, there
interest as at 26 July 2004 is 1,952,815 shares, representing 3.25% of the
Company's issued ordinary share capital.
