US Election poll accuracy enhances YouGov profile
Online market research company, YouGov (YOU.L), has again proved itself as one of the most accurate pollsters globally, predicting the outcome of the United States Presidential Election.
In one of the most extensive polls ever conducted, YouGov questioned more than 36,000 Americans in 27 states, between 31 October and 3 November. The survey included all the battleground states, and also the largest states such as New York, California and Texas.
Based on the research, YouGov predicted that Obama would win the national vote by 2%; as we near the final count he is 2.36% ahead. YouGov predicted 27 state results, 26 predictions were correct and the other, Florida, remains uncalled.
Stephan Shakespeare, YouGov CEO, commented: "At the last election we headed the Huffington Post league table of top pollsters, but that didn't significantly register in the US media. This time, we have broken through into public notice: YouGov's reputation in America as a source of highly accurate, rich data is growing fast."
